Fair Verona a piano/ indie band from Maryland has recently released their first self-titled album. As some may know, the lead male singer, Phil Moy, was originally in a group by the name of Underscore. Their songs were much more pop punk/fasts and catchy. Much of the material from Underscore was passed forth to Fair Verona when Phil left the band. While writing a bit of new material, the songs carried over are much slower and it is obvious that the approach was much different with the new band. While they are just starting out, and some of the tunes aren’t completely sure of themselves, Fair Verona has achieved a very listen-worthy album. The lyrics will strike a chord in listeners, displaying stanzas such as, “What if I could see right through you? Drop dead and look who’s laughing now. I hope you choke, I know you’re perfect.” It is clear that each line was written with specific events in mind.
Another factor that makes Fair Verona stand out is their female co-singer, Laurie Mae. She even sings lead in the song, “Your Sleepless Lullaby”. Her voice glides and complements the music perfectly. For everyone who enjoys softer toned piano music, this album is assuredly a must.
