Sara:
Rob: My name is Rob Guizio and I play bass and sing in Hollywood Ave

Sara: How did Hollywood Ave start?
Rob: Well it definitely went through many different incarnations before it evolved into what it is today. It started off in 8th grade with just me, Tim (drummer) and John M. (guitar/vocals) and another one of our friends from high school. We weren't that good we basically played a lot of covers and very little shows. We went through some members. We started playing shows. Then our guitar player quit and we picked up John Dewitt or "the prince" as he is known and that’s when we started to make more interesting music

Sara: Wow 8th grade how old are you guys?
Rob: We're all in college now all of us are 18 except for the Prince he’s 20

Sara: That's pretty sweet. Were your family and friends very supportive when you first started out?
Rob: My family is good about me playing. I mean, in a lot of ways they think it’s just like a hobby of mine when really it’s like my life. But my little sister is definitely into the idea of being able to say I'm her brother because all the younger kids are real into Hollywood Ave. Our friends definitely go through phases. When we first started out they were way into us. Then after a while I think they just got bored. Then when we started changing our sound more and getting more intricate they came back and were into it. I guess we just have an ADD scene here. It kinda sucks.

Sara: How does it feel to be signed?
Rob: It feels good. Such a relief to know we're not just four dudes alone in this big vacuous business. And the dudes from IVR [Inner Voice Records] are the coolest buncha guys there is. We really think of them more as friends than business associates. But they're also really business savvy. We know they’re gonna help us out so much and take us to the next level. All we ask for is for our music to reach as many ears as possible, and IVR is really making it their goal to make sure that happens.
Sara: Yeah they are pretty cool. Is there anything that you would change about the current music scene?
Rob: I think in many ways it's turned into a giant fashion show! It sucks. Kids don’t come for the music anymore
Sara: They come because it's "cool"
Rob: It’s all "is this band full of hot guys?" or "how can I show off my new emo clothes?" I went to a show w/ my sister a couple months ago and we're getting ready to leave and she’s like "omg I can't find my white studded belt...I can’t be seen at this show without my belt" I was like ‘are you fucking serious?’ it’s affecting the music it’s getting more sexified
Sara: And yeah it's becoming more commercialized.
Rob: Just to answer that call for physical attraction to the audience
Sara: Which takes away from what music actually is about.
Rob: Yeah Hollywood Ave is safe from that we're...not the best looking band there is
Sara: Score!
Rob: The ladies don't come out to see our pretty faces I guess that's an advantage.
Sara: How can you be so sure?
Rob: Well maybe SOME of them do We have to make up for our ugliness in pure rocking power
Sara: And you do that so well making your pure rocking power. Who or what inspires you to keep making
Rob: Well we get togethed we basically say "what do we hate about music right now?" and then we do the opposite of that

Sara: Excellent. What's your favorite subject in school?
Rob: Interesting well I never liked math and science I'm a writer I actually don’t take any math, science, or foreign language classes at school why bother? I’m not gonna do that shit for a living anyway
Sara: That's what I say to myself when I wake up at 6:30 Monday - Friday
Rob: You don't have to know chemistry to rock that’s what I say
Sara: That's why I am not taking chemistry
Rob: Right on

Sara: Alright what superpower would you want and why?
Rob: Well the typical answer would be the gift of flight but that’s real cliché so I’m gonna say the power to summon a guitar into my hands anywhere, anytime
Sara: What a sweet power.
Rob: Because many a time I have found myself in a situation where I really want to summon a guitar into my hands and I can’t so there you go
Sara: It would be very handy
Rob: Indeed

Sara: Any last words for the world wide web?
Rob: Get ready for Hollywood Ave. We're poised to destroy music as we know it. and then put it back together then destroy it all over again
Sara: Awesome thank you
Rob:Thank YOU!
